Injectable Dermal Fillers are made of a gel-like substance, generally made of Hyaluronic acid which is found naturally in the cells of  the body. As we age, we lose volume in our faces and other areas. By injecting the areas of volume loss with dermal fillers, we can literally plump those areas up and produce a younger, fuller, more lifted appearance.

The results look very natural and merely enhance, rather than change, your appearance.

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers literally hold 1,000 times their weight in water, and actually attract moisture to keep you looking youthful and volumized for a good period of time.

Once we have consulted with you and given an honest evaluation of what can be accomplished, the fun begins. After numbing for about 20 minutes ,the dermal fillers will be injected into the areas that are in need of volume enhancement and/or rejuvenation. The gel like fillers will be somewhat pliable upon first being injected and can be manipulated for best overall effect.

Most Dermal fillers contain lidocaine to help make the process more comfortable, but numbing is always provided prior to injection as well. The highly trained and artfully skillful injector will recommend a certain number of Filler syringes to meet your personal needs.

We generally numb the areas to be treated for about 20 minutes. Most dermal filler treatments take between 15-45 minutes depending on how many issues you are addressing.

All areas that are treated with Injectable Dermal Fillers are numbed prior to the session. Generally, there is an awareness that the needle is poking, but very little in the way of discomfort. The lips are a more sensitive area and can be somewhat more uncomfortable for some.

Yes, treatment with Injectable Dermal Fillers is carried out with  great attention to sanitation, comfort and safety. All Injectable Dermal Filler products are FDA cleared for safety and efficacy as well.

Some mild to moderate downtime may be experienced such as swelling and bruising post treatment. Generally, all swelling will subside within 24-48 hours. However, in cases of greater sensitivity, the swelling may last longer.

• Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Those with an infection at or near the desired treatment site.
• Those with bleeding disorders.
• Those with autoimmune diseases.

Possible side effects of Injectable Dermal Fillers include , but are not limited to: Redness at injection sites, swelling and bruising. tenderness at the injection sites is also a possibility. The good news is that these possible side effects are temporary and rarely last for that 24-48 hours.

• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior to getting Injectable Dermal Fillers.
• Avoid getting excess in areas to be treated.

• Avoid working out strenuously for 24 hours.
• Avoid activities that will cause sweating for 24 hours.
• Avoid alcohol for 24 hours post treatment.
• Do not lie down with the treated areas against a surface or pillow for 24 hours.

Regarding special events: We recommend that you receive your Injectable Dermal Fillers 1-2 weeks prior to any special event so that any swelling,  bruising will have completely subsided. Although swelling and bruising generally only last 24-48 hours, there is the possibility that minor swelling will persist for up to 2 weeks, and the fillers will not look completely natural until all swelling has subsided.

Regarding travel: Travel is fine even the same day as Injectable Dermal Fillers are received. Keep in mind that you may be swollen and there is the possibility of bruising, especially on the day of injection with Injectable Dermal Fillers.

Some fillers are soft and very pliable. These ”softer” fillers are designed for areas such as under eyes or lips. They produce a soft result that closely matches the natural look and feel that is desired. These “softer “ fillers have less dense molecular structure and are absorbed by the body more quickly.

Other fillers are “heavier”, and are designed for sculpting the cheekbones, chin or jawline. These “heavier” fillers are somewhat thicker and less pliable. They have a denser molecular structure and are absorbed by the body more slowly.

Additionally, those who are more rigorous with workouts will find that their fillers will last a shorter length of time. And, those fillers placed in areas of greater movement, such as the lips, will also last a shorter duration of time.

Cortisone is a steroid that reduces inflammation when injected into an ingrown hair or raised acne cyst. Just one cortisone shot can greatly reduce the inflammation that has caused a red irritated bump to form. The redness, irritation and inflammation is generally reduced by the cortisone within a 24 hour span or less.

The area to be treated with the Cortisone Shot will first be carefully evaluated by one of our highly trained registered nurses who will make sure that we are dealing an ingrown hair or acne cyst.  Once approved for treatment by a nurse practitioner, the specialist will inject cortisone into the base of the cyst that has formed. The cortisone will bring down the swelling within 24-48 hours. This is a very popular treatment for those who find themselves with an acne cyst right before a special event. The treatment works quickly to flatten the cyst and return the patient’s countenance to normal.

The treatment is quick and nearly painless, just a small prick of the needle and you are out the door and back to life as usual.

There is very minimal discomfort. This is a quick and simple treatment.

This is a very safe medical procedure, which is always performed by an experienced registered nurse using sterile disposable needles.

There is no downtime at all from a Cortisone Shot.  Once treated, you are free to return to life as usual. The gym and regular exercise are not affected whatsoever by receiving a cortisone shot.

It is very common to receive Cortisone Shots prior to a special event, and this will in no way affect your ability to travel in comfort.

Those with a known allergy to cortisone are the only people who would not be recommended to receive this treatment.

There are generally no side effects to receiving  Cortisone Shots.  However, on occasion, the area that has been injected may form a small divot after the swelling goes down.  If an indention forms, it generally smooths out and looks normal after a few days, or possibly a week.  In rare instances, the divot may be permanent.

If the patient is found to be allergic to cortisone, the treatment area may develop a rash or hives, and a visit with a physician would be recommended.

Each cyst or ingrown hair will require only one shot in most cases. In rare instances, some additional cortisone may need to be injected (at an additional cost) in order to reduce the inflammation and flatten the cyst.

Cortisone shots are used to treat individual acne cysts and ingrown hairs. You only need to treat again when you find yourself with another cyst.

Kybella, also known as Deoxycholic Acid, is a chemical injection treatment used to destroy and PERMANENTLY remove pockets of fat from the body.

Kybella is the first and only FDA approved injectable treatment to reduce fat in the  submental(under chin) area. Results are generally seen in 2-4 treatments, for most people, depending on where they begin and what their goals are.

Clinical trials for Kybella have shown that  79% of patients reported an increased satisfaction with the appearance of their chin and face which improved their self perception and made them feel more attractive overall.

The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a molecule which occurs naturally in the body, which aids in the breakdown and absorption of fat cells. When injected into areas such as the “double chin”, KYBELLA literally destroys fat cells, eliminating their ability to store or accumulate more fat.

First, the area being treated will be numbed with medical strength topical numbing  cream.  Then, after approximately 20 minutes, a grid of tiny injections of Kybella will be administered in the treatment site. Due to the numbing, the tiny injections are very tolerable. The Kybella(Deoxycholic acid) that is being injected will begin to sting almost immediately, and a strong  burning sensation will most likely last from 20-30 minutes post treatment.

The treated area will begin to swell within a few minutes of being injected, and then  become swollen within a couple of hours. This swelling and some moderate soreness will persist most likely for a couple of weeks before subsiding.

Stinging and burning during the injections and for approximately 30 minutes post treatment are to be expected. A strong burning sensation will follow the initial injections as well.  Fairly extreme swelling and mild soreness are to be expected following each Kybella treatment.

Kybella is a very safe FDA approved treatment which is only performed by highly trained registered nurses, nurse practitioners or doctors.

Yes, there will be some noticeable swelling for 2-3 weeks post treatment with Kybella. We recommend wearing scarves or turtlenecks post treatment of the submentum (under chin) area.

Travelling post treatment with Kybella is generally not an issue. However, we recommend that Kybella patients plan their treatment at least one month prior to any special event in order to allow enough time for the swelling to subside.

Kybella is not recommended for pregnant or lactating women, and may not be injected in any site where there is any infection present.

Yes, there will be swelling for a 2-3 weeks post treatment with Kybella. This swelling is not generally anyone’s favorite part of post treatment recovery, but it is necessary for the success of the treatment.

The swelling that occurs post treatment with Kybella is due to the process of fat cell destruction and subsequent removal of fat from the treatment area by the lymphatic drainage system.

Generally, Kybella patients will require 2-3 treatments to obtain optimal results. Some need more, some need less. However, each patient tends to react slightly differently, and  the treatment plan is always created on a case by case basis.

If more than one Kybella treatment is required, we recommend spacing them 6-7 weeks apart.
